A NEW WORLD PREMIERE

Explore our in-depth Amleto Project site!

There have been many successful operatic adaptations of Shakespeare, including such masterworks as Verdi’s Otello and Falstaff.

However, it was thought there was no credible adaptation of the Bard’s most famous play.

Until now.

For the last ten years, Opera Southwest Artistic Director Anthony Barrese has worked to bring back to life the lost work of the composer Franco Faccio and his better-known librettist Arrigo Boito. Faithful to the original Shakespearean text, even including an aria Essere o non essere (to be or not to be), this is a once-in-a-lifetime production.
